CPCSM Office Moving to Spirit
of the Lakes CPCSM has begun moving its office space from St. Stephen's Church to Spirit of the Lakes United Church of Christ. "We are very grateful to St. Stephen's for renting us space for the past six years and for making us feel part of their community," said CPCSM CO-President Michael Bayly. "For financial reasons, however, we have decided to relocate to Spirit of the Lakes." Founded in 1988, Spirit of the Lakes (SOTL) is the first predominately GLBT congregation in a mainstream Christian denomination in the United States -- possibly the world. CPCSM and SOTL have much in common: both communities are rooted in a vision of radical inclusiveness and the traditions of both liberation theology and ecumenical cooperation. Like CPCSM, Spirit of the Lakes has long served as a religious refuge for people who have been rejected from their home church or no long feel like they can reconcile their sexual orientation with their church's stance on homosexuality. "All of us at Spirit of the Lakes are delighted to welcome CPCSM into our space," said Fintan Moore, co-pastor at SOTL. "We look forward to partnering with CPCSM as we pray and work for justice for all God's beloved people. We consider CPCSM to be a sister organization as together we honor the sacred gift of our sexualities and pledge to make our communities safer and more loving." As of December 1, 2003, CPCSM's new address will be: Catholic Pastoral Committee on Sexual Minorities CPCSM's new phone number has already been changed to: 612-201-4534. Spirit of the Lakes' web site is: www.spiritucc.org.
