Election of New Board, Screening of CSJ
McDonald Sisters' New Documentary Highlight CPCSM's Annual Membership Meeting

Highlighting CPCSM's Annual Membership Meeting was the viewing
of Four Sisters for Peace, a recently released video featuring (l to r) Kate, Jane, Rita, and Brigid McDonald. In the documentary the four CSJ siblings share about their life-long commitment as activists for peace and justice.

On October 27th CPCSM held its Annual Membership Meeting, marking 23 years since its founding in May 1980. The following current Board members were re-elected: Michael Bayly; Beverly Barrett; Mary Beckfeld; Maribeth Graves, OSF; Susan Hames, CSJ; Bill Kummer; Brigid McDonald, CSJ; Mary McDonough; Rob Peick; and Ed Sellner, PhD.

A slate of new Board members was also elected. They are as follows: Paul Fleege; Sue Kramp; David McCaffrey; Fintan Moore; Mary Lynn Murphy; Theresa O'Brien, CSJ; Gerry Sell, and John Watkins, PhD.

In other business matters, two important tasks were accomplished. First, the membership of CPCSM voted to reset the date of the Annual Membership Meeting so that it aligns with the end of CPCSM's fiscal year on June 30th. Second, membership voted to establish a committee to revise and update the organization's by-laws.

This year’s Annual Meeting also included guest speaker Chris McNellis, Campaign and Development Intern at Community Solutions Fund (CSF) who successfully launched CPCSM's annual CSF campaign.

Finally a special feature of the evening was the screening of the newly released Four Sisters for Peace, a half-hour documentary film about the lives of the CSJ McDonald sisters—longtime justice and peace activists and members of CPCSM (Brigid McDonald, CSJ, also currently serves on the CPCSM Board as our Hospitality Coordinator).

Four Sisters for Peace was created by a class of sixth to eighth grade students at Southside Family School in Minneapolis who worked with their teacher Susie Oppenheim and the artist Media Mike Hazard.

The viewing was followed by a dialogue between the audience and the sisters about both the film and their lives within the justice and peace community.
