Former CPCSM Board Secretary Continues Her
Commitment to Social Justice Even In Retirement

Arlyne Goodwin, left, and Alice Rice, right, hold anti-war signs and candles at a demonstration for peace with Iraq at the Collier County Government Complex in Naples on Tuesday. The "Public Witness for Peace" organized by Pax Christi of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church was held in honor of International Human Rights Day and attracted approximately 20 people. The Rev. James Isaacs of the Episcopal Church, a participant, said, "I came out today to serve the Prince of Peace." Erin Wigger/Staff.

Even now that she is retired and spending winters in sunny Florida, former CPCSM Board Secretary Alice Rice continues to show her passion for and commitment to social justice. The above photo appeared with a story in the Naples Daily News (12/11/02), as well as on the newspaper's web site.

We miss the passion for social justice and dedication to CPCSM's mission that Alice and her husband Chuck (former Board Member) always manifested while serving with us. They set an example as true followers of the Gospel.

Thank you, Alice and Chuck, for your many gifts that you shared with CPCSM and the GLBT community while serving on the Board with us. We wish you all God's blessings in your retirement and continued opportunities to do the work of the Gospel.

For more information about Alice and Chuck's journey with CPCSM and their lesbian daughter, please see the article Alice wrote for CPCSM's newsletter, the Rainbow Spirit in the Winter 2002 Issue (Volume 3, Issue 2, p.1) *.
