Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Paul Province, Celebrate 150th Anniversary at RiverCentre in St. Paul on November 3rd.

It was exactly 150 years ago to the day on November 3rd when four Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet stepped from their riverboat onto the shore of the Mississippi to begin their life and ministry in St. Paul. During a three-hour informative and entertaining multimedia celebration and dinner, the Sisters showcased their multiplicity of talents as they recounted the 150 years of their history and traditions through vocal and instrumental music, readings, creative movement and dance, puppets, video imaging, and other dramatic art forms.

CPCSM is most grateful to the Sisters, who have labored with us, ever at at our side, as cofounders, board and leadership team members, generous benefactors, and loyal supporters since our own inception more than 21 years ago. CPCSM and the local GLBT community has benefited immeasurably from sharing in their long tradition of social justice and service to those underserved by the Church and society. The Sisters have never wavered in their support of us and our ministry, standing by us especially in our times of greatest need -- when others in local Church leadership seemed to turn their backs on us.

It was fitting that many of our members and friends were on hand on November 3rd to help celebrate the dedicated life and wonderful work of this talented and loving group of women who continue to inspire us as role models in their response to the call of the Gospel.
